Hip Hop Financial Literacy Workshop
The numbers of songs that rap about money, popping bottles and the need for bling are endless. But what about the management of money? Without proper financial education, bad habits drive out the good – not unlike the rappers who set their money fire in their music videos.
This proprietary GAC workshop utilizes the power of hip hop as a breakthrough method for teaching key elements of financial literacy to teens and young adults.
Originally developed through a grant from the JPMorgan Chase Foundation, with programming and materials created by GAC, these workshops present financial information on number of key topics, including learning basic financial terms, choosing a dream job or business venture, balancing a checkbook, buying a home, investments and more.
This workshop has been proven effective for teens and young adults.
Past supporters: JPMorgan Chase Foundation, Emmis Communication, Eagle Academy, Harlem School of the Arts, Hip Hop Culture Center in Harlem
